Quick Answer
For a narrow workspace, the 80 × 50 cm VASAGLE LWD038 is the compact option here. For two measured 24-inch monitors, compare the approximately 120 × 60 cm Amazon Basics and VASAGLE ALINRU desks. Choose cable grommets or shelves to suit your needs, and confirm the larger desks’ load limits before buying.
A small office desk has to do more than fit against a wall. It also needs room for your screen, keyboard and chair. This guide compares three shortlisted desks sold on Amazon.ae, focusing on desktop dimensions, materials, storage, assembly and equipment fit. It does not cover every desk available in the UAE.
Small office desk comparison
The 80 cm option comes first, followed by two approximately 120 cm options. Dimensions are width × depth × height. Figures below report listing information; they are not measurements from hands-on testing.
| Desk | Dimensions (cm) | Materials and storage | Load and monitor fit | Retailer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VASAGLE LWD038 | 80 × 50; height disputed: 75 or 76 | Engineered wood and steel; no storage | 50 kg stated static load; one measured screen | Check price on Amazon.ae |
| Amazon Basics | 120 × 60; height disputed: 73.6 or 75 | Particleboard top; two cable grommets, no storage | Load unconfirmed; two screens fit by calculated width only | Check price on Amazon.ae |
| VASAGLE ALINRU | 119.9 × 59.9 × 74.9 | Engineered wood and steel; two side shelves | Load disputed; two screens fit by calculated width only | Check price on Amazon.ae |

How each small office desk was evaluated
This is desk research, not a hands-on test. The supplied research screened Amazon.ae options for availability, UAE fulfilment and customer ratings, then compared published specifications. Customer ratings were a screening aid, not proof of quality, and may pool different sizes or colours.
We prioritised compact dimensions, equipment layout, storage and assembly information. Where sources conflict, the uncertainty remains visible. Monitor calculations use one specific model and do not establish stability, comfortable posture or load suitability. See how we review products.
How to choose a small home office desk
Measure available width and depth
Check the wall, skirting boards, sockets, window handles and door swing. Mark the full desktop footprint on the floor. A desk that fits against the wall may still block a wardrobe or leave too little room for the chair.
Depth matters as well as width: a deep monitor stand can consume much of a 50 cm surface. Measure your keyboard and forearm space, then check the screen position from your seated posture.
Check clearance underneath the frame
Measure from the floor to the lowest drawer or rail, and between the legs or shelves. Overall desk height does not establish usable clearance. Check your knees, chair armrests and freedom to change position.
Allow for chair movement
Choose the desk and chair together. Our office chairs UAE buying guide compares seat height, usable seat dimensions and armrest adjustment to help you check desk compatibility.
As a starting planning allowance, consider roughly 75–90 cm from the front edge of the desk to the nearest wall or bed. This is not a standard or a guarantee of adequate access. Test your own chair when pulling back, standing up and passing behind it; a walkway or accessibility requirement may need substantially more room.
Compare materials and storage
All three shortlisted desks are described as using engineered wood tops. Steel legs alone do not establish that a tabletop can support a monitor clamp. Check material, thickness, load distribution and mounting restrictions.
Shelves can reduce clutter but also narrow knee space. If you plan to store a computer tower, check shelf dimensions, the tower’s weight and ventilation requirements rather than assuming a removable shelf guarantees a fit.
Plan assembly and building access
All three options require assembly. Package dimensions have not been confirmed in this research: check them before arranging a delivery through a narrow corridor or lift. Compare the total in AED, including any delivery or assembly service, rather than the desk price alone.
Will one or two monitors fit on a small office desk?
If you plan to remove the monitor stands, our monitor arms UAE buying guide explains load ranges, VESA compatibility, desk thickness and clamp clearance. An arm does not make an unsuitable desktop safe for mounting.
Use overall monitor width and depth with its stand, rather than screen diagonal alone. Dell publishes a width of 53.864 cm and a depth with stand of 18.175 cm for the P2425H. The calculations below use those figures.
| Desktop | Width outside one screen | Depth minus monitor-and-stand envelope | Two-screen width |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80 × 50 cm | 26.1 cm | 31.8 cm | 107.7 cm: exceeds desk width |
| 120 × 60 cm | 66.1 cm | 41.8 cm | 12.3 cm total spare width before a gap |
| 119.9 × 59.9 cm | 66.0 cm | 41.7 cm | 12.2 cm total spare width before a gap |
These are bounding-envelope calculations, not fitting tests. Two screens are assumed to sit flat, side by side, without overlap. Width beside a screen is not the same as mouse space. The depth subtraction allows no extra rear cable clearance or overhang, so usable space may be smaller.

Frequently asked questions
What size counts as a small office desk?
There is no single size used by every retailer. This guide covers desktops up to approximately 120 cm wide and 60 cm deep.
Is a 50 cm-deep desk enough?
It can suit a laptop or a monitor with a compact stand. Measure the complete arrangement and your viewing position; a 60 cm-deep desk offers more flexibility.
Can a laptop and monitor share an 80 cm desk?
Possibly. Measure their actual footprints, keyboard and mouse space. A closed laptop with an external screen can reduce the space required; ensure its ventilation remains clear.
Can two monitors fit on a 120 cm desk?
Two Dell P2425H monitors total 107.728 cm in width before any gap, so their screen widths fit within 120 cm. Stand positions, cables, viewing angles and desk capacity still need checking.
Can I use a monitor arm on these desks?
Compatibility is unconfirmed. Confirm desktop construction, thickness and mounting suitability with the manufacturer, alongside the arm’s requirements, before fitting an arm.
Why are compact electric desks not included?
The supplied research did not establish electrical compatibility for the compact powered options considered. They have therefore been left out of this shortlist.
Does a small desk need cable holes?
No, but grommets can help organise cables. Without them, plan a rear cable route that avoids pinching cables against the wall.
What if a fixed desk feels too high?
Choose desk and chair together. If raising your chair gives a suitable working position but leaves your feet unsupported, a footrest may help. Check leg clearance and screen position too.
Can I return a desk after assembly?
Check the current terms for the exact listing before opening or assembling it. Do not assume an assembled item has the same return conditions as an unopened box.
How much legroom do the ALINRU shelves leave?
The supplied listing research does not establish the clear width. Request that measurement and compare it with your knees, chair and movement needs before ordering.
Conclusion
The VASAGLE LWD038 is the smallest-footprint option in this shortlist. Amazon Basics offers cable grommets, while VASAGLE ALINRU adds shelves. The larger desks are candidates for two measured 24-inch monitors, subject to confirmation of their load limits. Choose your desk, equipment and chair as one layout.
